Daily Routine

School opens at 8.00 a.m. Students are not permitted to enter the building before this opening time. Girls should not arrive at school before 8.00 a.m. Girls who arrive at school before 8.50 a.m. should go to the Dining Room, except girls in Years 10-13 who may go to their Form Rooms.

The bells are rung at the following times:-

Girls admitted to Form Rooms.

9.00 am

Registration

Form Tutors in Form Rooms.

9.03 am

Double Bell

Assembly – Girls, in silence, to Hall with Form Tutors.

9.20 am

Period 1

10.10 am

 

Period 2

11.00 am

 

Recreation

Years 10-13 may stay in Form Rooms. The remainder must be out of rooms until the movement bell at 11.15 am . Form Rooms if weather inclement. Tea/coffee available in the Staff Room for staff.

Changes to normal routine are published on the Staff Notice Board and on the Board in the Entrance Hall.

School has a 'House' system: Audley (yellow), Ferrers (red), Paget (green) and Stafford (blue). The forms are named accordingly - 7P is Y7 in paget house etc. They stay in the House they are allocated for the whole of the time in school.

Most lower school lessons are taught in forms - upper school in groups. Y7-Y9 science is in forms, Y10 and Y11 are mixed groups.

Reward system - merits for good work (half a house point), excellents for outstanding work (one house point).

Discipline system - order marks for minor faults (loss of half a house point) and conduct marks for discipline or major problem (loss of one house point), For more serious offences they may be referred to head of year or issued with a detention. Loss of two house points results in a detention anyway!

Log Books: House point gain and loss is recorded in a homework diary called a 'log book' - you should initial any allocated to them. They should record homework in the diary when it is given to them. There is a place in the diary for you to comment and/or communicate with parents if necessary.

School day: 8-50 to 3-40 (6 x 50 minute periods)

Morning registration - in form room at 9.00 Mon - Thur and 8.55 on a Friday.

Afternoon registration: in lesson 5 at 2.00

Assembly: 9-00 til 9-20 (Monday, Wednesday (upper school); Tuesday, Thursday (Lower school); Friday (whole school)

Recreation (Coffee Break): 11-00 'til 11-20 daily

Lunch: 1.00 'til 2.00 daily

Staff meeting after school on a Monday - lasts 'til 5.00 pm - You are expected to attend Staff Meetings

Staff Briefings in staff room on a Tuesday and Thursday - starts at 8-50 - lasts 'til 9-00 - You are expected to attend Staff Briefings - be sure to be at school in plenty of time for these.
