Yorskool SCHOOL REGULATIONS

Arrival

You should arrive 10 minutes before registration which is at 9.00 am or 8.55 am on Friday. For safety reasons, any Year 7-9 girls arriving before this must wait in the dining room until the 10-minute bell has been rung. The School opens at 8.00 am and the Dining Hall is open from 8.15 am for breakfast.

Late Arrival

Enter through the door opposite the Site Manager’s room and report to the School Office. NB: Girls with four lates in one half-term are put in detention.

Assembly

After the Assembly bell please be silent on the way to, during, and on exit from Assembly.

Recreation

If it is dry, Years 7-9 should be outside; if wet/too cold, in form rooms – decision by staff duty leader on day. NB: No eating of hot food except in the Dining Hall. No eating or drinking in the corridors at all. Do not leave litter. The back of school is out of bounds for safety reasons during recreation and lunch time, and the drive field and car parks are out of bounds at all times.

Lunch Time

Years 7-9 – 25 minutes are allowed for eating packed lunches in the form rooms. After that, if not attending clubs/activities, Years 7-9 should go outside if it is dry or if wet/cold remain in form room.

  • Form rooms, leave doors open.
  • Sit quietly – no sitting on desks, window ledges, etc.
  • No writing on boards.
  • At the end of lunch time, leave rooms neat and tidy, and empty waste bins.

ANY INDIVIDUAL FORM WHOSE BEHAVIOUR PROVES TO BE UNSATISFACTORY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED THE PRIVILEGE OF STAYING THERE.

After School

Unless you are attending a school activity, the building should be vacated by 3.50 pm . School buses should be used. If you wish to work or are waiting to be collected please go to the library until 5.00 pm ( 4.30 pm Fridays), then go to the entrance hall.

REMEMBER TO WALK ON THE RIGHT, IN SINGLE FILE AND DO NOT RUN.

No eating or drinking in the corridors. No chewing gum at any time.

Lessons

Be punctual to lessons and to form periods. Enter rooms quietly unless a class is waiting to come out. Line up in SINGLE FILE OUTSIDE TECHNOLOGY ROOMS, SCIENCE LABS AND SPORTS HALL. Please stand when a member of staff and/or visitor enters a room.

Log Books: Years 7-11

The book is an ‘official document’ and must be kept neatly (no decoration, etc). You must keep your log book in your bag at all times so that it is available for inspection whenever required. Each day’s entry should show the subjects set for that date. Times spent doing homework must be recorded and totalled. If homework is not given in at the specified time, staff will record this in your book and give an order mark. Merits and Excellents will be recorded here for good work.

Absence

On your return, remember to bring a letter from your parent/guardian giving the reason for your absence.

School-Time Appointments

A letter or appointment card should be brought in advance and presented to the member of staff on duty outside the School Office. Sign out when leaving and sign in when returning in the book outside the School Office.

Sickness

If you feel unwell in school, either report to a member of staff or go to the School Office. The Pastoral Leader will decide if arrangements need to be made to send you home. On no account should girls go to the medical room unless accompanied by a member of staff.

Property and Valuables

All property must be named.

MP3 Players/Ipods and other expensive items must not be brought to school. Valuables must not be left unattended. There is a ‘valuable box’ provision during PE sessions.

When school has no proprietary control of an individual’s property, they cannot be held accountable for any loss or damage to said property. Any expensive equipment which is brought into school and is subsequently lost or stolen is the responsibility of the student (unless placed in ‘valuable box’).

There is locker provision which ALL pupils are strongly advised to use and keep padlocked. Students may not use items of school property without permission.

Pay Telephone

This may only be used at Recreation and lunch time within the school day FOR EMERGENCIES.

Correspondence

Girls must ensure communication and letters to parents are taken home.

Library

Opening hours are advertised on the boards outside the library. Students may remain in the library after the end of the school day to use the computers or research material for homework. Please sign the attendance sheet at the desk. Eating or drinking (except water) is NOT allowed anywhere within the library. Group work must not distract other users. Mobile phones should be switched off at all times.
