Lesson Summary and Homework Page

Information for Y7 (2011/12)

Mrs. Jones is only in school on Monday periods 1-3 and Thursday periods 3-4.

If you need to get a message to her please e-mail her via the school system. Title the message by beginning with 7A (She will then know which group it is from). Do not leave messages in her pigeon hole - she does not need to use it this year!

Homework will be set in Monday's lesson and your book will be collected off you each week in Thursday's lesson. Make sure your book is up to date - missing work copied up and homework is completed.

HW

5th September 2011
Welcome to WGHS form 7A!! This page will allow those of you who have missed lessons to find out what has been going on.

Each week I will list what we have done and include any useful links for you to use.

Thursday's lesson we:

  • handed out the notebooks
  • made namecards
  • looked at Cyberphysics
  • discussed 'Physics' - did a brainstorm on what topics we will look at as we study it!

12th September 2011

In Monday's Lesson we:

  • Started the topic of forces - notes that' Force is a push or pull - some are contact forces - some act at a distance. Friction always acts to oppose motion'
  • We then did a little circus of experiments and noted down our findings in rough.

In Thursday's Lesson we:

  • Did an experiment stretching springs
Draw a heading page for physics - make it bold and attractive!
19th September2011
Monday: OUTING for Centenary - no lesson

In Thursday's lesson we:

  • finished the result table - discussed headings.
  • plotted a graph of results
Some found the mathematical work difficult and didn't manage to get on to plotting the graph. We therefore need to continue this on Monday as it is a very important skill.
None could be set as there was no Monday lesson
26th September 2011

In Monday's Lesson we:

  • Finished plotting the graph (making use of the full piece of A4 paper and drawing a best fit straight line)
  • Discussed the difference between mass and weight

In Thursday's lesson we:

  • had a copy of this worksheet
  • learnt how to use a Newton Meter
  • Found the difference between mass and weight
  • Did a circus of experiments weighing a 1kg mass on 'different planets'
  • Handout for experimental method - to be FIXED in book
  • Handout on results tables to be fixed in the back of book.
  • Fix the graph into your book
  • Write a conclusion for experiment to be written. Click here for help.
  • Look at the mass and weight pages - there are some little cartoons on there that help explain things.

3rd October 2011

In Monday's Lesson we:

  • Looked at the difference between repeatable and accurate readings
  • looked at units and how they are made up
  • Started the topic of density

Books will be collected in at the end of Thursday's lesson.

  • watch the vidclips on units and units from equations 1 and 2
