Multiplication of numbers (of the same base) results in the addition of the exponents

Eg. 102 x 103 = 105 Division of numbers (of the same base) results in the subtraction of the exponents Eg. 102 / 103 = 10-1 The reciprocal (1/the number) can be found by reversing the sign of the exponent Eg. 1/104 = 10-4 A power of the number can be found by multiplying the exponent by that power Eg. (104 )3 = 1012 A root of the number can be found by dividing the exponent by that root Eg. The square root of 1042 = 1021
Eg. The cube root of 1042 = 1014
