Penetration Power
Gamma radiation is an electromagnetic ray. It can penetrate through all but the densest material (lead shielding or thick concrete is necessary to reduce the level gamma rays to a negligible level).

Beta particles (high speed electrons!) can penetrate easily through paper but are absorbed by a few millimetres of aluminium.

Alpha particles (helium nuclei) are absorbed by a sheet of paper.
